mildly obsessed
As an experienced mechanical engineer with extensive experience in the motor sports industry, designing and building things runs in my blood - thanks in no small part to my father’s influence. From a young age, I was surrounded by his own hands-on projects, which fueled my obsession with creating. My journey began with LEGO, evolving into custom parts for RC cars, restoring a moped, and ultimately taking on a full ground-up restoration of a 1979 Land Rover Series 3. Though I started mountain biking at 12, I never considered building my own bike until a simple question from a roommate changed everything: “Why don’t you just make your own?”
While I appreciate precision CNC parts, I take pride in crafting components on old-school manual machines. That said, my bike designs are carefully FEA calculated and fine-tuned using CAD.
Living in sunny Valais, Switzerland gives me the opportunity to ride almost year-round, with some of my favourite trails close by around Crans-Montana. Though I’ve only scratched the surface of what the valley has to offer, I can’t help but wish for purpose-built trails like those in Québec and Finale Ligure right in my backyard. I’m also a big fan of tech climbs—there’s nothing like the challenge of tackling a tough, technical ascent.
Listen up.
Sat down with @skidsandgiggles for a chat about my approach and philosophy towards making bikes. Beware, lots of giggles!
